ShaderFX 3.0 Half Lambert Node

Half Lambert lighting is a technique first developed by Valve. "It is designed to prevent the rear of an object losing it's shape and looking too flat" [source].

ShaderFX ships with a Half-Lambert group node that can be used instead of the Diffuse Lighting group to get some really, nice soft lighting.
